National Links Trust’s Statement on Tree Removal

Over the last several weeks, National Links Trust has received a number of inquiries about the ongoing tree work at East Potomac Golf Links. While National Links Trust is not managing this work, to the best of our knowledge as the current operators of the golf course, the trees removed were hazardous, dead or dying, and/or invasive species.

Proactive tree management is an important component of any effective golf course maintenance program. Over the last five-plus years, National Links Trust's stewardship of the three DC golf courses has routinely involved removing hazardous and invasive trees. These decisions were made in partnership with the National Park Service to ensure golfer safety, promote a healthy growing environment for the golf courses, and improve the overall ecology of the properties.
