The Hike | Jared Cutright

Support Jared and his efforts at National Links Trust’s ‘The Hike at East Potomac’ on Monday, June 9th

I am beyond excited, and perhaps a bit intimidated, to participate in my first “Hike at East Potomac Park” in support of the National Links Trust and its mission to support affordable and accessible municipal golf. Without municipal golf, it’s very likely that I may have never picked up a club--the first golf ball that I hit was on the driving range of a municipal golf course. The first round of golf that I played was on a municipal golf course. My first job was at a municipal golf course (a Pete/PB Dye course!). My first job after college (for the summer) was at a municipal golf course.

I moved to DC after that summer job and essentially packed my golf bag away for 15+ years. Then, like many others, COVID prompted me to pull the clubs back out and head over to Rock Creek. The ability to be outside and participate in something that resembled a normal activity was a welcome diversion, and I was hooked again. That was where I first learned about the National Links Trust, and I immediately decided to do what I could do to support the organization. I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in volunteer days, Reversible Day at East Potomac, and now The Hike!

My primary reason for taking part in The Hike is to help grow the game by having accessible, affordable facilities to share the game with my three kids (8/6/3). My oldest has already participated in summer golf camp at Rock Creek and we can’t wait to hit range balls at the new driving range in a few short years!

Thank you for your support!
