Support Akeem Anderson at The Hike

Golf is more than just a game to me—it’s a masterclass in patience, focus, honesty, and resilience. It’s a sport that bridges generations and backgrounds, and nowhere is that more evident than on our municipal courses. As a Black golfer, I’ve always cherished these historic "munis" for their role as entry points to the game and as vital spaces for community and connection.

This is my second year taking on the "100 Hole Hike," but the mission has never felt more urgent.

Right now, the future of public golf in D.C. is uncertain. As part of a 50-year lease with the National Park Service, National Links Trust has spent the last five years building impactful community programs that make golf and its benefits more accessible for the entire community, while investing more than $8.5 million in renovations, with the plan to fully restore and renovate all three courses in Washington, DC. Late last year though, this lease was terminated and there is no clarity about what the future may hold.

I am walking 100 holes and over 25 miles on June 9th to support National Links Trust and their life-changing work. The funds I raise this year will directly support NLT’s programs, like the Jack Vardaman Workforce Development Program, and their preparation for a long road ahead to ensure bright futures for the Washington, DC courses.
